Manchester weather shares many patterns with the rest of the United Kingdom. Which in effect means, that weather in Manchester is renowned for its unpredictability and its tendency to change rapidly without previous warning and at any given time of the year, Moreover, the existence of high-pressure systems results in very hot temperatures during summer, becoming significantly cold in winter. On the upside, this phenomenon also has a tendency to be rather short in length, tending to pass quickly, letting weather in Manchester return to its usual patterns.

All generalizations aside, Manchester weather is characteristically mild, enjoying sunny summers and rather cold, wet winters. Although snowfall only puts in a rather infrequent appearance, days during the long winter season are admittedly frosty and clear. January is the coldest month of the year, with temperatures averaging a cold 4C.

In sharp contrast, July is the hottest month of the year. In comparison to Southern European locations however, Manchester weather remains rather cold, with mercury only manage to rise to an average of 15C.

If you are planning on visiting the city and you are not accustomed to the peculiarities of Manchester weather, it is advisable to plan your trip during the months of April, May and June, when conditions are at their absolute finest. Keep in mind though, that – as mentioned earlier – weather in Manchester is unpredictable: what might start off as a rather gloomy and damp morning, might result in a sunny, warm afternoon, so come prepared and dressed appropriately.
